I found and set Group Policy settings on our Win2K3 server with Exchange 2K3
enterprise.
When implemented, the GPO settings impacted not only the folders in each
mailbox, but the PST archive folders for each mailbox. I set the Retention
policy to archive all files over 60 days old to the archive.PST file.
Unfortunately, not only did it move the files in my user mailbox, it moved
the files in the folders in the Archive.PST file to the deleted folder.
Everyone keeps telling me what is happening is not possible. I have been
told that the GPO settings do not apply to PST files. I can tell you that
is not the case. They were moved to the deleted folder.
Also, each folder in the PST file does have an Autoarchive setting. In
addition, when the File Retention setting is not set in the GPO, the folder
shows that the file retention setting has not been set by the administrator.
Isn't the reason for the GPO File Retention setting to archive older files
to an Archive.PST file?
Doesn't it defeat the purpose if the File Retention settings are also
applied to the Archive.PST file, the very file you have archived to?
How do I get this to work properly?
