Outlook Hanging on to connection after close out

Outlook holds on to the connection after I close out of
it. It will not start backup. I have to terminate thru
task manager. How can I stop this from happening?

I am having the same problem with Outlook not shutting

down. Have to end in Task manager. Bill Gates, where
