Outlook live and office SP3 installation

Has anyone had problems with Outlook Live and updating office over the web.
When I go through the automated Office update routine it informs me that I
should upgrade to SP3 of Office, even though I only have Office 2000
installed, and Outlook Live and Frontpage 2003.

On telling it to upgrade it fails immediately. Any one had the same problem?

That was my first thought. I believe that it is SP3 for Office XP that it is
trying to install. As I stated Ryan, I have only updated Outlook 2000 and
Frontpage 2000 to new versions. Outlook to the new "Live" which says that it
is Outlook 2003 (11.6359.6360) SP1 and Frontpage which is Frontpage 2003
(11.5516.6360).

I have CDs for Office Premium 2000, Outlook Live and Frontpage 2003.

I run the office update from:
http://office.microsoft.com/officeupdate/maincatalog.aspx?lc=en-us

It comes back telling me that I need to install:

Office 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1) provides the latest updates to Microsoft
Office 2003. SP1 contains significant security enhancements, in addition to
stability and performance improvements. This download applies to the
following Office 2003 products: Access 2003, Access 2003 Runtime, Excel 2003,
FrontPage 2003, Outlook 2003, PowerPoint 2003, Publisher 2003, Word 2003,
Office 2003 Web Components and Office XP Web Components. SP1 also includes
many performance and feature enhancements for InfoPath 2003.

There are also a couple of other updates but I have unselected those for the
time being.

I have selected "Use smaller update files" in the options and when asking it
to download and install it comes up with the message:

Further to this message this morning... I notice that others are having the
same problem with SP1 for Office 2003 where only part of the suite has been
updated.

Also, I downloaded the Full File version, all 70 odd mb. When trying to
install this it pops up a message to state that it was unable to install. No
help there.

Is this a problem with the new Outlook Live version of 2003 or some other
problem. BTW. Outlook Live did not set the registry key for install path.

This seems odd that you would be offered SP3 for Office XP. This means you
must have installed a product from that family in the past. I can't tell
much without delving into log files. Although painful, it may be easiest to
uninstall and reinstall the products since you have the cds. But verify
that after you uninstall the products office update isn't still detecting
Office XP SP3 as needed. If it does you have another program still
installed.

Hope this helps,
Ryan

Sorry Ryan,

My mistake it was SP1 for Office 2003 that was being offered, not SP3 for
Office XP. Outlook is already at SP1 level and the only one that is not is
Frontpage 2003.

Yours,

Chris.
