I am usning Office XP, and use Outlook as our email client. A while our
setup contains thee email accounts. One is our normal Verizon account,
another my wife's Hotmail account, and then my MSN account, with separate
inboxes for each account. A short time ago I upgraded Office with the
security update suggested. Since then a advisory has been popping up to
inform us that "a program is attempting to access your address book." I
mentioned this to our son-in-law, who works for Microsoft as an Outlook
development team member. He told me that evedently some spyware was
attempting to use our computer, and that I should download and use the new
Microsoft AntiSpyware beta.
Problem was, this AntiSpyware program is only avelable for Windows XP, and
were using Windows ME.
So, I purchased and upgraded to Windows XP. Shortly after this the regular
email account (the Verizon one) of Outlook just Locked Up. We can niether
send no recieve on it. Also, I cannot get into the account set up in order
to change anything. Access to this is denied.
So, we started using Outlook Express for our email. Had to enter all of our
addresses into Outlook Express, of course. --a task that is not yet
competed. I would like to transfer certain messages from Outlook to Outlook
Express, but this seems to not be possible. At the same time, we can still
use the Hotmail and MSN accounts to send and receive messages, but when I
try to use the MSN one that same warning pops up about some program trying
to access our address book. It seems to me that the program that is trying
to use the address book is Outlook itself!
By the way, AntiSpyware found no spyware!!
I think I can solve this problem by simply un-installing Office Xp, and then
installing it again. I tried, as was suggested, simply re-installing Office,
but this produced no results.
You see, we do not want to lose thos old messages in Outlook. If I know
where these were kept I could back them up. However, the old system has
dissapeared from the Windows folder in Windows XP.
