OUTLOOK SETTINGS

How do I change the settings so when I click on to Outlook it automatically downloads all new mail and puts it on the screen. As it is I have to click on send receive. Also, is there an icon on desktop that shows you when you have new mail? I am used to Incredimail so this is all new. I am not sure if I like this better. Thank you
