Outlook Today does not display active tasks or appointments

Outlook Today is not currently displaying any of my active tasks or
appointments. This change has suddenly occured after many months of normal
use.
Is there some setting that needs to be changed to display them or is it a bug
that there is a patch for. anyones help would be appreciated
