outlook xp email

I have a POP3 email account set up in outlook. I have it
configured so that outlook leaves the email on the server
for 14 days.
The problem: every so often (about 5 times since i started
using outlook a few weeks ago) outlook will download
emails that i already have. so all my emails will have
doubles. does anyone know what the problem could be and
how to fix it?

This problem was corrected in Service Pack 2. Do you have that installed
already?

i think it is installed; when i go to help-about it says:
Microsoft Outlook 2002 (10.4712.4219) SP-2. is there
anything else i need to do or can do? thanks for your help.
