Outlook XP Problems

Glenn

I was running a trial version of Office 2003 and went back to my full
version of Office XP.

When I click on the Send/Receive icon, or click on Tools/ Send/Receive/
"Send/Receive All", I get "The Operation Failed." I only have one email
account defined and when I go to Tools, then Send/Receive and pick my email
account directly, it works.

Also, it seems like my Outlook Contacts folder is somehow not configured to
use as my personal address book. I see all of my contacts in the contacts
folder, but if I go to select names in sending an email, it's blank. If I go
to Tools/Email Accounts, and then try to add a directory, I get the error
message, "The account you have added is not fully configured. It might not
work properly until re-configured correctly."

Can someone please help me figure this out? I'm losing my sanity over this.
I've checked everything now about 10 times and am going in circles. I
haven't been able to find the answer in the Microsoft KB.

Thanks,
Glenn

I saw somewhere in here that the problem might be with my "profile." Is that
so? If I build a new one, how do I get all my data from the old one to the
new one?

Thanks,
Glenn

Thanks for the response.

When I do this, all my folders are blank and I can see that a new .pst file
is created. How do I get all my old email, contacts, etc. to the new
profile?

Thanks,
Glenn

Just open your old PST file in the new profile and set it to be your
default.

OK. I think I got this all working now. Thanks for the help. It wasn't very
obvious from the online help or from Microsoft's KB.

Thanks,

Oops. I spoke too soon. My folders and all seem to be OK, but when I type a
name in the toolbar, it can't find the contact. Also, when I go to send an
email, none of my contacts display and it says that the address book is
empty.

I'm not an Outlook or Windows expert and really don't want to be. I just
want it to work the way it did. Having to go back to my old version due to
Microsoft's screw-up (long story) has really been an incredible pain.

Thanks,
Glenn

You probably forgot to configure the Outlook Address Book for your new
profile. Do so.
