I am not a pro but make sure that your windows xp
firewall is off somewhere in computer properties. I
could not donwload messages from a server once and it
turned out that my firewall prevented me from doing so.
I am not sure that this holds true for your problem since
your old "new" outlook worked just fine. Hmm...
