All,
Sorry for the long post, but
I reciently rebuilt my computer and upgraded from Office
XP to Office 2003. Upon doing so I have noticed that
Outlook downloads duplicate messages from my POP3
Account. My ISP, earthlink, has a web-based mail system
that I can check and there is only one copy of each
message, however outlook shows two entries. When I
migrated the Office install, I had also changed user
names, I was using a Automatic signon. When I did I
opened Outlook and it created new PST files. I then
copied my old PST file overtop the new one. When Outlook
opened it saw the messages. I also thought maybe if I
create a new PST file it would work, so I created a new
file, then told Outlook to download all mail to the new
PST file (Outlook03.pst). I then closed Outlook and
renamed the Outlook.PST file (the one I used from the
upgrade) to Outlook_old.pst, thinking since I told
outlook to use the new file. But everytime I start
Outlook it tells me it cannot find Outlook.pst. But I
cannot find a reference to the file anywhere. I can
rename the file back to Outlook.pst and set it back as my
primary but I am back to duplicate messages.
Does anyone know how I can stop it from showing duplicate
messages on download? If I uninstall and reinstall using
a new PST, will that work, then attach the old one as a
PST Data File and copy my data over?
Thank you,
Nathan
