i recently reinstalled outlook after my brother installed
outlook express. i can receive email (pop 3) but cannot
send email on the outgoing server account smtp..... can
anyone point me in the right direction?

Is Outlook set as the default? Are the settings absolutely correct? Look for a slight typo. Compare the server setting with OE's and your ISP's web site instructions.

The most common cause of this is not authenticating to your outbound server.
That's on one of the property pages of your account.
