I'm trying to help a friend convert his outlook to not use exchange server
and instead use his pop3 ISP server.

Problem:
When I start outlook it gets an error that it cannot find the exchange
server and then it gives me options to retry, workoffline and cancel. Of
course retry does not work as there is no server to connect, now when
workoffline is chosen, outlook just closes which is not good cause I won't be
able to re-configure outlook to not use an exchange server and change it to a
pop3 account. Is there a tweak I can do to not do the above behaviour? TIA.

Go to Control Panel, Mail icon and remove the Exchange service. Add the
POP3 service and you should be good to go.

the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.
