Page Centering

How do l centre the web pages so that when the viewer brings up the site the
page sits in the middle of the screen not to the left hand side like it does
in website preview. Also how do you change the background screen that is
behind the pages or does publisher not have the capability to make these
changes? Thankyou, look forward to some help:)

Publisher created websites after Publisher 2000, I don't believe can be
centered. Publisher 2000 created websites can be centered by adding the
line <center> in each of the html files. The easiest way to add
<center> to each of the html files is with the program ReplaceInFiles. I
don't know if websites created with earlier versions of Publisher can be
centered or not.

My site at http://www.vanusa.org/ was created with Publisher 2000 and
<center> was inserted with ReplaceInFiles program.

Thanks Don. Where do l find the program ReplaceInFiles. Can it be accessed
within publisher or do l need a separate program?
Thanks.

ReplaceInFiles is Freeware at http://www.emurasoft.com/index.htm

When you use it, here is what to fill the boxes with:

Find: </head>
Replace with: </head> <center>
File types: *html
In Folder: Use the browse button and go to the location on your computer
where your website files are located.

I leave the four selections on the bottom unchecked.

If you happen to run ReplaceInFiles more than once on the same group of html
files you will probably end up in the html files with a double <center> in
the files. I don't know if this will hurt the files or not but by redoing
the "Save as a Website" in Publisher will clean out the double <center> and
then run ReplaceInFiles again. Another thing you might experience is
forgetting to run ReplaceInFiles; in that case just run it and then upload
the html files again; no need to reupload the image files.

A nice thing about ReplaceInFiles is once you set the four boxes, they are
already set for future use.

Take care,

Don, Just FYI, Pub 2003 saves with a default htm extension instead of html
like Pub 2003.

David,

In the history of the thread I stated I thought only Publisher 2000 could be
centered and addressed my remarks to Publisher 2000. I have no experience
with Publisher created websites except with 2000. Maybe others with other
versions of Publisher could comment if ReplaceInFiles works centering their
websites, whatever the file extensions are.
