Page numbering - DISREGARDING sections

I inherited a folder of approximately 75 Word documents - some are 1 page,
others 2 pages. I needed them assembled into 1 file, so I used a macro I
found to put them all in one document. That worked just fine. However, it put
each document as a separate sections, so when I insert page numbers to the
big document, it numbers by section. What I want is for it to just start at
page 1 and keep going through the whole document. Is that possible without
deleting all the sections? I'm looking for a simple solution as I won't be
the one maintaining this file down the road.

Thanks much!

Hi A_S_42,

Assuming the page numbers are in the footers, you can do that by changing the footer layouts so that all except the 1st is set to
'same as previous'. Note that this will delete any custom footers that exist in the Sections you update this way. If that's a
problem, you can edit the page number formats for the Sections concerned (and the ones immediately following) to continue the
numbering from the previous Section.
