I'm typing chapters for a workbook, each chapter a separate document. (Don't
ask ... I finally gave up trying to bend Word to my will and went around it
by handling the document this way.)
I set page numbering at the beginning of the document and formatted to start
numbering with 14. (Insert | Page Numbers | Format)
Now that I've finished the chapter, I find that the thing is seven pages
long but the page numbering alternates between 14 and 15 (i.e., 14, 15, 14,
15, 14, etc.).
I'm moving between two-columned and single-columned sections, so the
document is full of Insert | Page Break | Continuous or Next Page, but I
don't think this is the issue as I did the same thing in Chapter 1 and the
pagination is just fine there.
Every time I come to terms with Word and develop a reasonable working
relationship with it, something like this arises and I again cry out for my
beloved Word Perfect, where formatting was immediate, logical, and visible.
I'm hoping someone here can provide assistance that will prevent me from
having to retype the second (and third) chapter I've already completed.
