PAGE NUMBERS IN PUBLISHER

CLWG

I have upgraded to Publisher 2000. I have a 50 page document which I use as
our numbered job sheets. Under old version I could go into tools/options
and re-set the 'start at' page number. In the new version it appears I have
to go into Insert/Section and put in 'start at number. ' This is all very
well, but won't allow me to insert a number higher than 1000 !!
Help please!

a) Mail merge
b) Put a "1" in front of the page number, and start at a number less than
1,000
c) Manually hex edit a Publisher file to contain any number between -32767
and 32767 (not easy) as the starting page number.

Many Thanks Ed for your very speedy reply - option B has helped. I wanted
to start the next page at 3101, so put a '3' in front of page number and put
start at number at 101. This will work until I cross over from 3999 to 4000
at which stage page 4000 would become page 31000! I'll cross this bridge
when I come to it.

When I went to print pages 3101 - 3150 it was showing as the old page
numbers i.e. 3051-3100! but printed the correct pages anyway.

It baffles me though why there is a restriction on the page number entered.
After all it is only a number which is printed on the page!

Many thanks again
