Can someone help with how to open a new page with a set of default
properties set by myself such as line weight, borders, page size etc. Using
Pub 97 with xp. I would like to have this as a default page. Thanks

Most definitely as Publisher 97 has *awesome* defaults that can be set
permanently for each new blank publication or just for the one publication
on the fly you are working on. *ALL* these excellent defaults were removed
from all later versions of Publisher and hence the reason why so many are
still using the *EXCELLENT* Publisher 97.
Just post back if you need any further assistance.

You can do this for only one publication, or you can save it for all
publications that you open as a blank page.
To do it for the document you are currently working on only:
Select the Text Box Tool (DO NOT make a Text frame)
Select the Font you want to use
Select the Font size you want to use
You can also select any other attributes like bold or italic, text frame
properties
Then select the Arrow.
If you want to change this for all your future publications, and you can now
specify many other things like:
Layout Guides
Table Frame Properties
Table Frame Text (same as for Text Frames above)
Snap to Ruler Guides
Snap to Objects
Snap to Guides
Shadows to Pictures/Objects
Any item under the View menu
Measurements under the Tools menu then Options.
Now save this Publication as the name NORMAL.PUB and in the save dialogue
box select the TEMPLATE box and also if you want you can select the PREVIEW
box and now select SAVE.
You now have to shut Publisher down and reopen it, and the document you just
made will now always be your default document when you open Publisher and
select Blank Page.
