Pages attachments

I have recently discovered that I cannot attach a 'Pages' file to an email - Entourage incorrectly identifies the file as a folder. My work-around is to compress the file, and Entourage has no problem with a zip file. Surely there must be a way of changing the preferences so that Entourage will accept a 'Pages' file. Does anyone know the answer?

Hi There,

Actually, Pages and Keynote files really are folders as far as I can
tell. If I do a network transfer of a Pages or Keynote file from my
Mac to a PC, on the PC it is in fact a folder. In this folder are all
the TIFFs etc...that Pages/Keynote use as backgrounds etc...

That being said, I've generally been able to email them in the past.
But, if you are having a problem one work around is to ZIP the Pages
file and then it should be possible to email it no problem because
even if it is a folder it will get turned into a single ZIP file.

Which is no reason for E'rage to attach them as folders.

I've never had a problem mailing them with mail.app, but I have to admit
I did not try this in Entourage. I guess I'll have to go back and try
that out.

Sigh, I thought I was done.

I'm not trying to excuse Entourage, but was just trying to explain the
behaviour. Pages and Keynote files are in fact folders. That being
said, I just tried out both with Entourage, it automatically
compresses these folders into a zip to send them. Again, while I have
no idea why Mail.app can do this without compressing and why Office
2004 seemed to be able to do it, this does not seem too arduous.

Any file that contains attachments will be considered a folder and is
zipped. Just create a TextEdit file with a picture inserted to test.

Pages doesn¹t create a single Œdocument¹ as Word does.

If you create a Pages file, save it and then right-click it in Finder,
you¹ll see that it¹s actually a Package. It¹s a collection of folders, stuff
and images that are all used to build your Pages Œdocument¹.

So this is not a Œfault¹ of anyone¹s really. That said, you can send Pages
documents using Mail.app with no issues at all.

Cheers.

David.
