particular use of MS Project

Hi,

I'm currently working on some personal application development in spiral.
Therefore i would like for the first spiral round to use MS Project in
the following way :

- on 01.01.2006, Analysis : 2 hours
- on 03.01.2006, Analysis : 4 hours
- on 14.02.2006, Planning : 10 minutes
and so on...

i want to type in MS Project the amount of hours worked and the concrete
dates. Like that after the first spiral round i will have an overview of
a full development cycle, that i will use and improve for the
next,...and so on..

How can i tell to MS Project that on 01.01.2006 i work only 2 hours
without changing any % resource use, or other stuff like that ?

thanks a lot,

Alain R.

Hi,

Enter the task
Leave the 1d duration, don't worry
Assign a resource (could just be "Me")
Insert two columns:
%complete
Actual Work

In %complete enter 100
in actual work enter the work really done
Now in Start put the actual date

Hope this helps

Hi,

This tip i know, but what i mean it's that task in for example performed
in over 3 days as following :

- on 01.01.2006 : 2 hours (resource :X)
- on 01.02.2006 : 7 hours (resource :X)
- on 03.02.2006 : 3 hours (resource :X)

your technique does not work in this case :-(

I decided to use the resource usage view for each task and to solve it
in this way...

Hi,

It would be so nice if you asked your questions completely instead of coming
in a second time with "This I know, but.." that would create less time loss
for both of us.
Once you created the task with the first two hours, in Resource usage show
actual work and fill in the actual work in the later dates. Just like that.
