Path names and being confused

All the documentation I can find tells me to look in a file with the path
C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates. I
can get to C:\documents and settings\user name| but after that there is no
application data. I have also tried under the all users for user name with no
results. Can anyone offer some suggestions?

Set Windows Explorer to display hidden files. Tools > folder options > view
If that doesn't reveal the folder, check Word > tools > options > file
locations > user templates to determine whether the quoted template folder
is indeed used.
