PDF printing

T

T. Wise

I printed some pages to .pdf files (so I could have them on my Palm), and
found that if the font was Calibri, the Adobe PDF print driver wouldn't
print the page to .pdf. Changing the font to Arial allowed it to print.

What's weird here, is I had already printed some pages with Calibri to the
Adobe PDF print driver and it worked fine. Now it didn't. I'd get a log
file with the following error info:

%%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
~FP53F-Bold not found, using Courier.
%%[ Error: invalidfont; OffendingCommand: xshow ]%%

Stack:
/FlateEncode
1.0

%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%

Yeah, your problem is that you're not embedding your fonts. If you go to the
Preferences in ON (or any other Office prog), there is a selection to embed
fonts. Be sure to select from the dropdown that you want this to happen in
all files and not just the current one, which is what I think you experienced
before when it worked that one time.

I don't know where the other responder found the ability to embed fonts in
OneNote. You can do it in other Office programs, but not in OneNote (that I
know of)

As far as I know, the only way to fix your font problem is if you are using
the full Acrobat. In that case, you do it just as you did - by not sending
the fonts. One question for you though... Does it work any better if you use
the Publish as PDF instead of printing to PDF? (Since you have Calibri, I am
guessing you are using ON2007, which has this option once you grab the PDF
add-in from the Microsoft site.)

Any idea why this would be happening? I prefer the look of Calibri on
the

Which version of Acrobat are you using? I ask because when I use Publish as
PDF on a page in Calabria, I am not getting any errors. I don't have my full
up copy of Acrobat installed here, so I am just viewing with the viewer and
can't see the logs.

Ignore the weird font name in the other reply. It is Calibri, but the spell
check changed it :(

Acrobat 7.0.8 Standard.

But your response contained my answer: I hadn't downloaded the Publish as
PDF addon. I just did that, and now it works fine.

So thanks again.

That's a nice one ;-)
Obviously the spellchecker was in travelling mood and had in mind to
go for holidays down in the south of Italy (well worth visiting,
really beautiful landscapes there, BTW).

P.S. Cathy: Is there a way to download your webcst on OneNote.
Transmision quality is just awful for me :-( :-(

This was only available in some Office apllication up to 2003 where
the "PDF Maker" makro was installed (requiring the full Acrobat).
This no longer works with Office 2007 bacuse it was replaced by the
PDF Add-in.
As far as I know, the only way to fix your font problem is if you

I tested it with both options. No problem occured.
Perhaps it was just some *general* setting for Acrobat on T.'s side.

So you are was better off now!
*Printing* with the PDF Printer only produces only "flat" output.
The PDF Add-in, however, keeps the hyperlinks active (as did the old
PDF Maker utility in the older Office applications).

Apart: I still I wonder why you received the error when printing with
the PDF printer.
Tested it and no problems with Calibri on my side.
