Percent complete not rolling up to 100% - Project 2003

K

KMiles

When I set all the subtasks to 100%, the summary task only show 99%. I can't
change the summary task % to 100 - it goes back to 99%.

I can't get the tasks to show complete and it is messing up my completed
tasks report and driving me nuts.

Everyone else on the project has Project 2003, and no one else is having the
problem. To make it worse, when they try to fix my file for me, it doesn't
work, but their files do.

Out of curiosity, have you overlooked marking a milestone task 100% complete
in the summary task section of the project?

None of the summary or subordinate tasks are milestones. The milestones are
marked at the same level as the summary task, as a separate line.
The tasks have completion dates in the past (March, April) but because of
delays were not completed on time - but when complete I marked the subtasks
100%, but the summaries won't go to 100%, even though all the subtasks are
marked at 100%
What gets me is that I have two subtasks that show 100%, but none of the
rest of them will.

BTW, I am KMiles - the web based newsreader on Microsoft.com won't let me
post or reply for some reason.

Thanks.

Hello KMiles,
If you don't mind sending your Project file over the internet, I will have a
look to it.
Just be sure to zip it before sending.

Hi Kurt,
The problem comes from the fact that you assigned resources on summaries,
even with units = 0 such as Maggie N.[0] on "Lesson 1 - Introduction" row
#9.
This Maggie's work has not been set to 100%, so the total can't be 100%.
Solution : remove these 0 Work assignments.

Not necessarily. I have some summary tasks with 0% resource assigned and it
does provide the 100% complete, while some others have the same setting but
with 99% completion. My problem is still not resolved.

Ok, I think I got it.

1. What you do is delete the resource from the summary task first.
This will reset the summary to 100% completion.

2. Then, if you still want to have the resource name there, put it back with
0%
Now it will display 100% completed.

The result will be 100% completion for the summary task with the resource
name in place.
