Physical % Complete in 2002

Margy

I am researching using Physical % Complete in 2002. I
have 2 questions.

1. Is there a way to set physical % complete for a single
task? And if that can be done, what would be the
ramifications on the Earned Value tables? Also, does
Project recalculate a new finish date for the task?

2. After you select the Physical % Complete are you then
able to just enter the_Physical% Complete in the regular
places where you enter % complete and the software will
make the accomodations?

Thank you in advance for the time it will take to answer
this question.

Humans seem to know when a detail task needs % Duration complete, % Work
Complete, or % Phsysical Complete statusing. Many think that the MS Project
Field % Complete can be used for all three. They are wrong. In 2002, %
Physical Complete * BCWS = Earned Value. That is its only use. The other
items are as per past practice and you need to read the help files about
them very carefully. You need to decompose "tasks" to a level where your
choice of updating them by one of the % Complete fields is appropriate.
