pics wont go where i want then to go in word 2007

Hi i am working with Word 2007. I have inserted pictures from file into my
document and have wrapped them to tight as i want them in amongst my text but
i am having severe problems trying to position my pictures. Ie i can't get
it
under my heading or to the left of my lext. Infact everytime i try to move
it, it just jumps to wherevere it wants to go and it is driving me mad. I do
not know exact positioning and quite often find i have to move them from
their original location anyway.

Is there a way that i can set up my pictures so that i can simply click and
drag them to where i want them and they stay where i put them??????

As you'll find in the following pages, controlling graphic placement in Word
is a full time profession based on an art form:) The section titled
"Gotchas" will directly address your question, but the rest of the articles
provide a great deal of insight on how Word handles floating object:

I notice the same thing from time to time, and it appears to be a registry
glitch, because whenever it happens, I can fix it (temporarily, at least) by
deleting the Data key in the registry.

I drag a picture down, and when I release the mouse button, the picture
snaps back up -- even higher on the page than it was to begin with. I drag
to the left, and it snaps back to the right -- further than it was to begin
with.

Is this what's happening to you?

If so, try starting Word with the /a switch and see if it now works okay? If
so, then deleting the Data key in the registry will "fix" it... for a while,
at least.

And here's the kicker... this was happening to me two days ago. I got
distracted and didn't fix it at the time. At the moment, however, the
problem is not occurring. So, while deleting the Data key *can* fix it, it
can heal itself, as well.

Hi Herb
Yes this is exactly what is happening to me and for want of a better word
AAAAAAAAAAAAARG. so how can i start word with the /a switch and delete the
data key in the registry because this is going to give me a nervourse break
down. I if i had the choice i would scrap office 2007 and go back but i cant
so i diffinately need it sorted because i use a lot of graphics in my word
docs and i dont think my nerves can take much more
