PICTURE DISAPPEARS WHEN I SCROLL down or up the page IN WINDOWS 2.

the picture I paste from the web, a screen dump or anywhere seems to "erase"
when I scroll up or down the page. If I minimize the word document and go to
do something else and then restore the document, the picture is missing then
also. If I hit "enter" somewhere around the middle of the page it will
appear again, but upon acrolling, it's gone! Please help!

And you were unable to find any other questions in this NG that addressed
that problem?

No - all the answers I have already tried (for about 2 days now)- Hardware
accelleration, line spacing to "single", etc. I thought it may have
something to do with my options in outlook 2003. Tools, Options, Mail
Format, Rich Text, unchecking "use microsoft word as email editor", etc.
Any ideas?

thx

As the other posts you apparently located have suggested, this is almost
certainly screen driver issue (which seems to affect recent ATI cards most).
If there is no update yet available for your display adapter, I guess you'll
have to wait around a while until there is. In the meantime, experimenting
with display settings (try increasing/reducing the colour depth), hardware
acceleration levels and DirectX drivers are likely to provide the only
respite.

I thought of something that may be causing me trouble. I have Adobe Acrobat
6.0 software installed on my computer. I am hooked up to a network and get
my word templates from a temp directory. For word documents, the temp
directory contains two templates - "Normal.dot" and "PDFMaker.dot". Do you
think this has any to do with my problem? I, of course use the normal
template but the other is sitting out there also.
thx

Whoever set up your network to use a temporary location for normal.dot needs
a good slap. The usual reasons are laziness on behalf of support staff, and
some misguided idea that this will enforce company standards. It prevents
normal.dot being used properly.

Normal.dot should always be installed locally and must *never* be shared.
*Document* templates and add-ins on the other hand may be provided from a
common location without problem.

However, whether putting this right will fix your problem is anyone's guess.
I am inclined to the view that this is still a screen driver issue, but
unless you can give your IT support nazis a good kick, we will never know.

thanks for all your help. I think some updates that didn't get installed may
be the culprit. They are being downloaded now (at my office) and I guess I
will find out tomorrow!!

thanks again,
sherry
