Pictures in a Word document

I have several pictures in a Word document 'behind text' &
'send behind text' which show the text in print preview
okay but the text is hidden when actually printed.
Conversion to a .pdf file has the same result. Thanks.

Did you clear tools > options > print > print postscript over text?
