Power Point locks up when opening

PP 2002 consistently locks up when opening. I have tried performing a
repair.... no change. I have tried running in safe mode ... no change. I
have uninstalled and re-installed office.... no change. Other Office apps
work fine. I have noticed that when I uninstall office, it leaves the files
and registry entries in place.
Suggestions? TIA

The program locks up when I launch it either by clicking on the application
icon or when I try to open an existing PP file. I have tried opening is safe
mode (CTLR + App). All that I get is a white screen with a border around it.
Later, I receive the "progam is not responding" message.
At one point, I was able to boot the machine in safe mode and then run PP.
But today, when I tried, it locked up.

Thanks for the link. I have tried slowing and even disabling hardware
acceleration. It did not help. I installed new video drivers.... no change.
When I launch PP, the license screen appears and then a gray screen with the
PowerPoint Title bar appears. That is as far as it goes.
The app log indicates that PP is a "hanging application".
I am wondering if this could be a memory issue???
