Powerpoint slide masters

John

I have been making custom PPT presentations and can modify
the slide master as needed. However, that change is applied
to the entire presentation and I then have to individually
modify each slide for which I do not want the master slide
layout. It would be much easier to be able to create
multiple slide masters to use at various points in the
presentation or, better, to be able to store my custom
design templates somewhere for use in all presentations. Is
there a way to save multiple changes in the slide templates
or save as design templates in the files with the generic
ones from Microsoft? I am using OS X and powerpoint on
Office X. Thanks for the help

I would suggest you create multiple masters. Launch PowerPoint, and open a
new PowerPoint presentation. Go to View -> Master -> Slide Master, and set
the master as you want it to be. When you're done, go to File -> Save As,
and choose to save in the "Design Template" format, rather than "PowerPoint
Presentation". Save it to a folder of your choosing; if I were you, I'd
create a folder just for masters. Repeat the same process for additional
masters you wish to create, and save them to that same folder.

Then, when you are making a real presentation, select the slide for which
you want to apply a different slide master, go to Format -> Slide Design,
choose the file with the master you want, select "Apply to the current
slide", and click "Apply". Repeat for the different slides in the
presentation. Now you'll have multiple masters!
