Powerpoint to Word?

I need to open a powerpoint file which was sent to me -
however I don't have powerpoint. Can I 'import'
or 'convert' it somehow to Word?

No. But you can get the PowerPoint viewer free for download from
Microsoft's web site. Search for "powerpoint viewer" in the download
section.

You can also go back to the person who sent it to you and ask that they
send it to you in more application-neutral format (Adobe PDF, HTML,
paper, etc.)
