Press the / key and the FILE menu highlights

Howdy,

I tab to a cell, press the / key, and instead of editing the cell and
putting a / at the beginning, Excel highlights the File menu.

Does anyone know how I can disable this _feature_? I can already hit
the ALT key to accomplish this. If I tab to the cell, hit F2, then / it
works, but I'd like to just be able to hit the /.

Thanks, Mike

You can start the entry with an apostrophy '/
You could preformat the cell as text.
You could turn off a transition setting:
tools|Options|transition tab
remove the slash character from the "Microsoft Office Excel menu key" box
