Preview icons

I have been saving my Word documents as a preview icon, and I have got the option of view as preview icons checked in the Finder. For some reason, my documents are being saved as the default icon of Word on certain documents. Does anyhow know why that is?

I'm sure someone knows but nobody has been willing or able to share the
insight here :)

What I have noticed is that the Preview capabilities of OS X appear to be
somewhat limited. If it can't render a preview image it simply throws up the
generic icon. It appears that Comments & Tracked Changes are included in
that category.

I haven't looked into it all that much, but in some brief testing: a file
with neither Comments nor Tracked Changes displays a preview in Finder. If I
open the file & insert a Comment then close & save the file the icon goes
generic. Opening the file & deleting the Comment allows it to display the
expected preview again.

Bob, thank you for sharing this...I tested this out and you are right!!! So is there no fix for this then?

Thank you for your help.

Do you honestly think I'd have shared that much & held back on the rest ?:)

Seriously, I don't know of any way to change it - in fact, I don't pretend
to know why it happens in the first place... It could lie with Word or it
could lie with OS X or it could be a combination of the two.

I've kicked my "discovery" up to MacBU but it's way too soon for any
response. If anything develops I'm sure it will be shared when appropriate.

Bob,thanks for your replies.

I am disappointed that there is no fix =( Guess I was clutching at straws when I asked that question!!! Oh well, I guess it is more of an annoyance rather than anything else.

Thank you once again for your help. Much appreciated
