Print Preview shows extra lines on my certificate. How to remove?

I used MS Publisher and mail merge to create a bunch of certificates.
However, even before I merged the documents, print preview showed extra lines
on my document - I have no idea where they came from. I need to remove them
though, they don't look nice.

Do the lines print? Are they on the publication screen and the print preview screen?
Do you have a background (master page)?
Might be a video driver issue. Slide the acceleration down on your adapter, see if
that hides the lines. Right-click your desktop, properties, settings tab, advanced
button, troubleshoot tab. If the lines disappear, go to the manufacturer's web site
of your video adapter and look around for an upgraded driver.

Yes, unfortunately the lines do print. they do not appear on the publication
screen, just on the print preview screen and on the final printed product.

the certificate master page tnat I made consists entirely of textboxes and
blank space (I'm printing onto 8x10 certificate paper).

I will try the video adapter thing, thanks!

Well if they do print, then it is more likely a printer driver rather than the video
driver. I assumed they showed up on your screen as well. Do you have a background
(master page)? Is there a line in the scratch area?

I checked my printer driver using an HP tool from their website. It says I
have the most updated driver for my OS.
I guess I'm not really sure what you mean by master page. I used a
'certificate' template when I first got started. then i changed the page
size and deleted everything on it.....

Try this, open a new instance of Publisher, copy each object one at a time from the
certificate and paste it to the new publication. You didn't state what version, but
you can open Publisher many times at once.
The background (master page) can be accessed from the view menu or ctrl+m.
