Printing project plan one page wide

Barb Reinhardt

I have a project plan that I'd like to print and it is 2 pages long by 3
pages wide. I'd like to display the width of the plan on one page. How do I
do that?

Thanks

Barb,
Well, there are several choices. One is to use scaling when you print.
That can be set via Page Setup. The problem with this approach is that
it often results in something that is difficult or impossible to read
because everything is so small. A second choice is to cut down the
number of fields you show as columns in your view. If you really need
all that information, you might want to consider setting up three custom
views with basic info (e.g. Task Name, Duration, Start, Finish, etc.)
and then selected other fields. It will still take more than one sheet
but it might be the best alternative. A third option is to use a plotter
and plot out the whole thing. Of course, this option isn't much good if
you don't have a plotter.

Hope this helps.

We have a RICOH plotter which only plots PDF files, is there any way to
change a project file to a pdf file?

mcahill,
Boy, that sounds like a rather limited plotter setup. I'm sure the
plotter will do more but the driver for it may be the real limitation.
You might want to see if you can update the driver.

With regard to Project saving as PDF, Project does not have the
functionality built-in. Years ago I remember we created PDF files of our
projects but we had to have Adobe (full version) to do so. Project will
save in a variety of formats (File/Save As "file of type") so you might
try one of those and see if that helps with a translation.

You also might want to go to our MVP website at:
http://www.mvps.org/project/faqs.htm and take a look at FAQ 16 - Project
Viewer. Maybe you will find something useful there.

mcahill,
After I wrote my latest reply I ran across another post on printing to
PDF. Take a look at the thread in this newsgroup on 11/19/06 by NevillT,
"How to create PDF file from MS Project".
