Hi all !
I have one project with 3000 tasks with 3-4 assigments in the every
task. When I try to republish assigments, sometimes(very often) MS
Project Prof hung. CPU indicator show 100% during several hours and
later I can see Microsoft error-report. Server seems to work well, it
have SP2a
installed, MS Project Professional have SP2 (11.2.2007.1206) version.
VWNotify service have priority parameter = 6.
What are wrong?

Thanks for any help,
Max

This is just my wild guess that you may need to take a close look at
resource names and make sure there are no duplicates where a local
resource shares the same name as a global resource. Hopefully others
who know more will comment, shortly. Also, you did not make it clear
what version of Project Server you are using. I assume 2003.

J. thank for your answer!
Yes I use PS 2003. I check my resources list, there are
not any local resources, but generic resources exists in my list. It
is criminal?

PMax ... were you able to resolve your issue? I am having a similar issue
with our largest timekeeping schedule.

When I attempt to save or publish the project, the project is saved
(followed by "Publish information sent for processing" if I have just updated
hours to the schedule). The processor then pegs out at 100%.

I've allowed this to run for several hours without a result.

In additon, I've noticed that the XML is never created in the ViewDrop
folder ... therefore the project data is not included in the cube build even
though it is present in the project.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

In addition ... I should have stated that we are running Project Office &
Server 2003 SP2a

Hi Ernie!
I drop any generic resources from schedule, than find and drop some
empty tasks from it. Now publishing is more stable than before.
Moreover, i republish that schedule part by part(three part now). I
notice that one part hung more frequently, than others. hope this
helps

PMax ... Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately for me, I have already removed
all local resources, but continue to have an issue.

It sounds like my issue may be slightly different from yours in that it
occurs every time that I save or publish, no matter what the size of the
selection that is being published.

I'm considering saving it as a XML, deleting the project from project server
and importing the XML back to the project server ad I understand that this
will force a rebuild of the binary. What I must first determine, is if this
process will cause orphan assignments for the 100 plus resources in the
project.

Thanks again for your reply.
