Problem with Catalog Merge and Master pages

I have a four page document set up that has a 2-page master page. The master
page has mirrored margins with the inside margin at 0.5" and the outside
margin at 0.125".

I set up a catalog merge with the first page having 1 across and 4 down.

When I go to merge the data, all my pages are numbered 1 and they all have
the same margins instead of the mirrored margins for oposite pages.

How do I get the catalog merge to merge across the pages correctly?

Are you creating a new publication in step three? (2007) If you do this and
then add the page numbers all will be well. Print merge without creating a new
publication will leave you with lots of page one.

To get this to work properly create two one page masters. Setup the guides
mirrored. View, two page spread. Uncheck the *Use the same master page for both
facing pages.* Apply the master page accordingly.

I tried it exactly as you have written (which I actually tried before my
original post) and it still doesn't recognize the different margins. I also
tried merging it into an existing file which was just blank sheets with the
master pages set up and still no luck.

I've worked with master pages many times in both publisher (2007) and in
some other software like adobe's InDesign without trouble. So I'm not sure
why this isn't working with the catalog merge.

Any other suggestions would be great!

The only way I got it to work was to reapply the master pages and then
manually move the columns of data over for each page. Not my idea of working
with master pages but at least I was able to get this project printed. I
wouldn't rely on this for large documents though until it functions more
smoothly.

Thanks for the help. I do appreciate the timely responses and advice.

I wish I could have been more help. I am glad you finished your project,
hopefully the next project will be easier.
Thanks for posting back, it is appreciated.
