Problem with error in new installation of Outlook 2003

Joel Yudkovitz

I just reinstalled Outlook 2003 after reformatting my hard disk and I
mistakenly tried to set up my MSN mail account as a microsoft exchange server
mail account. Now I can't open Outlook.

I have tried to uninstall and reinstall Outlook, but this doesn't help.

When I try to open Outlook, I get an error stating that the connection to
the Microsoft Exchange Server is unavailable and that Outlook must be online
or connected to complete the action. When this error is acknowledged I get
another input box listing the Microsoft exchange server that I originally
input and my email address. I have tried to clear the data on this screen,
but it doesn't accept the change.

After accepting that eror, I then get an error that indicates that the
default email folders can't be opened and that outlook.ost is not an offline
folder file. When I accept this error, Outlook closes.

How can I fix this problem?

You can fix this by going to Control Panel > E-mail. You can then remove the
incorrect one and add the correct one.
