Problems sharing MS Publisher files over home network

Jason P

I am currently unable to access MS Publisher files over my home
network. This doesn't seem to be a permissions issue since every
other file type I can copy, delete, modify, etc... However, for some
reason all MS Publisher files are inaccessable. I keep getting an
error message saying that the file is locked and in use by another
program. There is no other program working on any other machine that
I know of. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Jason

Copy the files to your local hard drive, open them for editing there, save
them there, and when you're done, close Publisher and copy them back across.

Problem is that the files are "locked" and cannot be accessed to copy,
run, etc... I have tried rebuilding the two computers in question
which yielded results initially, however this same problem is
beginning to rear its ugly head again... To make matters worse, not
all publisher files seem to be effected as before; only those files
that were created recently (i.e. after the fresh rebuild)... Any
other ideas would be much appreciated... Thanks

Files that are locked for editing cannot be opened, but can be copied.
Open up the network server in Windows Explorer, and drag-and-drop the file
to your desktop.
You never open a file in its application to copy it.
