Problems with assigning calendars

I have tried to assign a new calendar to all tasks (a 7day working calendar),
but it does not take effect on all tasks, just a few. Any help?

Nils214,
The best way to ensure all tasks in a project have the same calendar
(e.g. 24 hour calendar) is to go to Project/Project Information and set
the calendar for "24 hours". When you tried changing the calendar I'm
guessing you went to Project/Task Information/Advanced tab and that will
only set the calendar for that particular task.

If you have resourses assigned to your task and the resource calendar is
assigned to a calendar working less time, this will make you think things are
wrong. Try assigning resources to a 24 Hour calendar.

Thanks for the responses, I have found the problem, tasks that are not
assigned as of 'fixed duration' will not resize themselves according to the
calendar.

Look again, that's not really true. Duration is the working time as defined
by its governing calendar between when the task starts and when it ends.
Fixed duration means that when you edit a resource assignment, the duration
won't change when you change either the work or the resource units. If you
have a task that takes 5 days duration, your "day" is defined as 8 hours,
and the calendar shows times 8am to 5pm for 8 hours a day, it wiull start
Mon at 8 and end Fri at 5. If you change the calendar to a 24 hour calendar
but leave everything else as is, the task will still show 5 days duration
but it will now start at 8am Mon and end Tue midnight - 40 clock hours
later. The task type won't effect that behavior.
