Problems with attachments

When I send a word doc as an attachment, the person
receiving the email will go in and try and open the doc
and it will show another suffix. One person said when
they got the email and tried to open the attachment the
document name changed to read:asp. Another said the
document has a .dat extension. Does anyone know what the
problem is and how to fix it. I had been told it may be a
virus, but I have Trend PCCillin that runs all the time
and gives me updates continuously. I ran virus scan and
no viruses appear. Any help would be appreciated.

Change your mail format from Rich Text Format to HTML or Plain Text.

I am having a problem with opening my attachments also.
However, my problem is that the Word documents are coming
up blank. In addition, if I send an email, the person
emails me that it is blank. Any suggestions?
