Problems with attachments

When I attach a file using either the short cut icon or
from the insert tool bar the file is inserted into the
body of the email and not as an attacment below the
subject line. The receipient can not open the file,
claims it is a dat file when I inserted it as a
word.doc. When I reply to an email I can send an
attachment without this problem. What is the fix?

Dean,

It sounds like you are sending Rich Text formatted messages which don't
always work "well" across the Internet. Try sending either an HTML or Plain
Text message.
