Problems with Custom Fields

I'm trying to have a custom text field that displays a resource's
initials and then the percentage of work assigned to them. We are
assigning resources to summary tasks, not individual tasks, but I'd
like something similar to the text on the gantt chart that you get with
the individual tasks.

Anyway, I've taken Text1, and to test it, simply set the formula equal
to [Resource Initials]. Then I added Text1 to the Bar Styles for
Summary, instead of Resource Initials. Now, nothing is showing up to
the right of the summary bar on the gantt chart.

Ideally, I'd like to have the field say:
[Resource Initials] & "[" & [Actual Work] & "]"

But I can't even get just the initials to show up. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Dave

Hello Dave,

In the Customize dialog, did you check the "Use formula" option for task and
group summary rows ?

Hi Gérard,

You got me excited that the answer was so easy! I tried that, but
unfortunately it did not help. :(

It works for me.
Do you have an = sign in front of your formula (you should not)
Is there any other bar defined for summary tasks which is later in the list
in the format barstyles dialog box?
If so, it may be writing over the earlier bar. Try creating a new summary
bar at the end of the list.
Other than that, it probably should be working. Try creating a fresh project
file and testing it.
