Problems with Office 2000 and XP

Gennie W.

Hi,
I hope somebody can help me with this. I upgraded my sister's computer from
Windows ME to XP. She had Office 2000 installed and running just fine on ME.
On XP though, any of the Office apps start up and immediately display the
"Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry
for the inconvenience..."

I searched the Microsoft knowledge base and did what they suggested... make
sure that compatibility is not set (which is wasn't) for a previous windows
version. I tried downloading updates from the Microsoft web site. Nothing
works.

I have Office 2000 running with my XP. I'd be so grateful for ANY
suggestions on what to do.

Thanks,
Gennie

Chris,
Is that an option on the install? I have tried reinstalling... even
uninstalled and reinstalled. How do you run repair?
