problems with power point

I am still having problems with My power point. I uninstalled everything and
when i went back to reinstall i did the complete install for office2003. Not
only does the design templates not work, but i can not open a saved file from
powerpoint or word. I can save it but then i can not open it. I had to
download powerpoint veiwer. any suggestions on what could be the porblem?

Start back from the beginning... Did you do a check for updates and install
the service packs? (Help--> Check for updates, then follow the links on the
Office On-line site.)
