Proj.Pro Custom Fields

M

Marc

I have created a Custom Field in Project Professional,
using a formula. I would like to use this field (formula)
in the 'Custom Outline Codes' so that I can use them in
the Porfolio Analyzer.

Can anyone please recommend the best way to do this.

Thanks!

Marc:

It doesn't work this way. Outline codes are not formula-friendly. Perhaps if
you could explain what you're trying to accomplish we could make some
suggestions.

To manage these centrally, you'll want to port your formulas into
appropriate Enterprise custom fields, then expose those fields in
appropriate views. You can make standard custom fields appear in PWA as
well, but you can't protect these from bungling users.

Marc:

The only fields that will show up in the Analyzer are Enterprise Project,
and Enterprise Resource outline codes, to which you can't apply formulas.
All other custom fields, enterprise and non-enterprise can be exposed in
Project Web Access views by adding them to views using the Manage Views
feature from the Admin menu. You must actually publish a project that uses
one of the fields before the field will display correctly in Project Web
Access.
