Project 2000 and Central Server for a user group

Hi NG.

I want to know how to work with MS Project 2000 and Central Server with a
user group.
We already have MS Prj2k incl. Central Server and think about to purchase
additional licenses.

My requirements are:

- Planning projects for a group and assigning the tasks to the group members
- View of the project status for each member by the project manager even
though by the member if the permissions are set

Is it possible to do this by MS Project 2000 and the Central Server?

What are the task of the Central Server?

Do I have to install MS Project for each single member?

Is the Central Server the only platform I need to work with?

How I can export an excisting project to the Central Server?

Is MS Project a multiuser system?
I found out that I'm only allowed to open a project write-protected when
it's already openend by a user.

Greetings,
Peter

Peter:

Project Central, and even the new version of this software does not support
group assignments, however there are adequate mechanisms in the current
software to work around this by allowing resources to assign themselves to
tasks. I strongly urge you to consider starting with the current technology
as Project Central is an extremely immature application and very difficult
to work with in comparison to 2003.
