project already open

Hi
I have a user who has a folder with sub folders and many projects. when
trying to acces any of these projects will only open as read only as says
already open and the name given is my user . I checked on network nobody else
had open any projects and the user was not showing projects open. I renamed
folder and copied data to new folder and files open normally. I have
uninstalled and reinstalled project and run updates
This has happened twice now using msproject 2000
Any ideas why this happens only for this user?

Have you checked the user's access rights on your network? It's possible it
somehow got changed to read only rights for the folder that contains the
subfolders with the projects. Since access rights trickle down from the
"moma" folder, all subfolders will be affected.

There also may be the case, when some user opens a project and after closing
it (not MS Project but only a project) it still has some 'references'. I got
that it sometimes happens, dont know why. Thus, afetr closing MS Project it
can be opend easily. I had such cases and it seems to happen with any MS
Office application. But I repeat this is not always the case.

Hi
Thank you for your time. I checked users rights and are all ok . The user
has told me that this happened a couple of days before and did nothing then
next day it allow her access. This new info suggest somebody else using
project may be the problem but file says locked by this user and I checked
server for users using project could not find any in this folder but maybe as
EmilH suggested maybe a file linked to this folder if happens again I will
get all users to logout of project to see if this works
