Project import wizard failing "the source worksheet name is requir

I am trying to import an Excel project plan into MS-Project 2003. Following
the import instructions, I have:

1. FILE/OPEN/<Chose Directory/Filename/File Format>
2. This triggers the Import Wizard. I answered: that this is a new
project map;
that I need the "Task, Assignment, & Resource" data; then go through
the next
screen & complete the mapping. The preview shows my data mapped
perfectly.
3. The problem is although at the top of this Wizard import screen my
worksheet
name is automatically displayed in a drop down box (which is the good
part),
when I push the FINISH button on the bottom of this screen, I get the
error message, "The source worksheet name is required. One or more
worksheet name fields are blank. A worksheet name is required to
import
data."

Thus I am stuck. Although the project import wizard is successfully
displaying the excel worksheet name in its drop down box, the Wizard claims
to not have the excel worksheet name and won't complete the import mapping.

I'm having the same problem. When I uncheck Resources and Assignements in
the wizard it will import. I'm wanting to import an xls that links

task name to name
assign to assignement

and a few other colums - the rest can go *Poof* I really just need these few
columns for my baseline project - I'll doctor it as I need.

Anyone that can help would be greatly appreciated!! I really don't want to
do this manually :(

Hi Kimber,

I just did a quick test with task information (Name, Duration) on one
worksheet and assignment information (Task Name, Work, and Resource Name) on
another worksheet in the same Excel workbook. Stepping through the Import
Wizard all worked fine.

The problem that I can see from your example below is there is no field in
Project called "assignment". What information is in your "assign" field?
Resource Name? Work?

I hope this helps.
