Project management permissions

Diana

Hi

my question is related to the permissions.
The issue is that a PM can open and edit projects in which he is only
the team member and not the PM, whereas he should be only able to edit
his own projects. How do I manage to get that?

The other question I have is related to the Owner of the project: what
is the advantage of placing a resource as the project owner?

Thank you and Best Regards
Diana

1) Check which categories the PM (or preferably the PM Group) belong to.
One of those categories is set incorrectly to allow the PM to open the wrong
projects. Without looking at your environment, it's hard to say, but if
you download the View Effective Rights tool, that usually will allow you
to quickly troubleshoot the issue.

2) Based on how you've set up security, by making a resource the Owner, they
then have the rights to open, modify, and save the project. Something, I
would guess your PM would not appreciate.

Gary,

This FAQ seems to be relative to Project Server 2003 version. Could you
adapt it to 2007 version?
Thanks

Ben,

In the Add or Edit Category page, in the Project section of "My Projects"
Category, the "Allow users in this category to view all projects they
manage" option doesn't exist in 2007.
Can we consider that "The User is the Project Owner or the User is the
Status Manager on assignments within that Project" is equivalentt?
Thanks for your help.
