Project Server 2003 SP2a problem with Enterprise Base Calendar

I have just completed a new Project Server implementation and have an
issue with the Enterprise Base Calendar. I have no need to change the
standard working days or hours, but my management wants me to have the
first day of the week show as Monday with Saturday and Sunday showing
as two shaded days at the end of the week using the default Gantt
Chart view. I made this change by checking out the Enterprise Global
Template and going to Tools>Change Working Time>Options and selecting
Monday as the first day of the week. Then I saved the Enterprise
Global Template, exited project and opened it again. The problem is
that after I made this change, most of the PCs still have the original
Gannt Chart view when they open Project connected to the Project
Server and are not reflecting the change I made. Every time I open
the Enterprise Global Template, the change I made is still showing. I
have tried this on numerous machines and users and the results are the
same. Most don't reflect the change, but a few do reflect the
change. Any help would be appreciated.

Your mistake is trying to set the Calendar option in the Enterprise Global
file. The Enterprise Global is your organization's "library" of custom
enterprise Views, Tables, Filters, Groups, Fields, etc., but it is not your
"library" of system settings for each Microsoft Project user. Because of
this, you need to ask your PM's to open each of their projects, to click
Tools - Options - Calendar. and to set the Week Starts On value to Monday.
They can also click the "Set as Default" button as well, but this only
affects new projects on each PC. You might also want to open each
enterprise project template and change the Calendar option there as well.
Hope this helps.

Dale,

Thank you very much for your timely and informative reply.

I had been wondering if my problems were actually supposed to happen.
All of my books and documentation from Microsoft that I have perused
recently all state how to change the Enterprise Calendar, but don't
tell you that this will not apply to all project server users.
Logically, you would think that changes to the Standard Calendar in
the Enterprise Global Template would apply to everybody. I've
supported Microsoft products for almost 14 years and should have known
better by now.

Again, thanks for your help. I am glad there are people out here in
Cyberspace such as yourself.

Take Care!!

If you change the Standard calendar in the Enterprise Global file, everyone
gets those changes the next time they launch Microsoft Project Professional
and log into Project Server. The thing that you cannot control in the
Enterprise Global is options found by clicking Tools - Options. The lone
exception is the default Currency. Hope this clarification helps.
