Project Template

Hello all! I am new to MS Project and am in dire need of a template to get
me started. I am working on a project to deploy our new Online Order Entry
application to our Sales staff and to then rollout an integrated scanner
solution to our customers. Anything remotely close would help as I am not
having much luck with the MS templates and I'm working on a short timeline to
get this project plan completed. THANK YOU!!!

Hmmm.... I wouldn't use anyone else's template for that sort of project! 80%
likelihood you would miss something very important. You need to find someone
who knows how to schedule (Project only holds schedule information it can't
get it for you) or:

Build a complete list of all deliverables and required outcomes for the
project.
Group them into logical blocks
Add tasks to achieve them all
Link the tasks logically
Assign resources

You need to get subject matter experts heavily involved in this
planning/scheduling. Every implementation project is very different and only
a template from a previous project of your organization that mirrors the way
you work would have value.

The most important part is your people doing an end to end walk through of
what needs to happen and you capturing that information as a schedule.

Thank you very much for the helpful advice! I think you're right...I need
to hold a kickoff meeting and figure out who, what, when, where and why and
then task it all together. The hardest part is getting people to cooperate!
This company has NEVER had any sort of project plan before for any sort of
project and the processes stink! I feel I have a long road ahead of me on
this one, but I always love a good challenge!
